Week 83: January 29 – February 4, 2018

On 29 January 2018, BBM received a Letter from the COMELEC informing him about the inventory of 10 ballot boxes  in Lamitan City, Basilan relative to the election protest of Tan vs. Hataman.

On 29 January 2018, BBM received a Letter from the COMELEC informing him about the inventory of 7 ballot boxes in Tabuan-Lasa, Basilan relative to the election protest case of Tan vs. Hataman.

On 31 January 2018, BBM received a Notice from the PET, which resolved to :

1. Note without Action BBM’s Reiterative Motion to turn over all the official and authenticated copies of the decrypted and printed ballot images and other election for all the protested clustered precincts of Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Negros Oriental in view of its previous Resolutiondated 17 January 2018 which allowed BBM to secure photocopies or soft copies of the same;

2. Note without Action the Caloocan City Treasurer’s Letter requesting the transfer of certain ballot boxes to the COMELEC CIBU Building in Caloocan City.

The PET further resolved to :

1. Authorize the Retrieval Team assigned in Camarines Surto:

a. Augment the PET personnel by hiring twenty (20) local field handlers;

b. Charter a bus to transport the PET, PNP and other Supreme Court security personnel;

c. Hire a motor vehicle to mobilize the above personnel as well as 2 additional drivers, if necessary; and

2. Approve the supplemental budget of PhP 112,500.- for the above undertakings.

On 31 January 2018, BBM received a Notice from the PET, which resolved to :

1. Note the Report of the Retrieval Team Leader regarding the delivery date of the ballot boxes from Camarines Sur;

2. Note the Report of the Office of the Chief Attorney regarding the use of an alternative staging area for the ballot boxes from Camarines Sur;

3. Direct the Process Servicing Unit to resend their Resolutions to certain persons in Naga City and Lucena City;

4. Note and Grant the following:

i. Letter from BBM’s counsel requesting that his official representatives be allowed to observe the retrieval activities in Camarines Sur.

ii. Letter from Robredo’s counsel requesting that her official representatives be allowed to observe the retrieval activities in Camarines Sur.

On 31 January 2018, BBM received a Letter from the COMELEC informing him about the inventory of 24 ballot boxes in Buli-Buli Sumisip, Basilan relative to the election protest case of Tan vs. Hataman.

After 83 weeks (or roughly 585 days), we are still waiting for the PET :

• to begin the manual recounting of votes for Camarines Sur, Iloilo & Negros Oriental
[per undertaking # 11 of 21].
