Bongbong urges opposition parties to form a coalition versus cheating
Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. today called on all opposition parties to forge a “united front” against a possible electoral fraud to make sure that the May 10, 2010 elections will be free, honest and democratic.
He made the call to the Nacionalista Party, Liberal Party, Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino-United Opposition and the Nationalist People’s Coalition, all of which will have their respective candidates from president down to municipal councilor.
Marcos said that since it would be the first time the country will experience a fully automated elections, the more opposition parties needed to come together to ensure that every vote is accurately and fairly counted..
“It’s going to be the first nationwide automated elections in the country that’s why we need to have a united front that would guard people’s votes,” Marcos said.
The opposition congressman said the proposed united front can assign computer experts and a lawyer in every precinct to monitor the elections and raise any question regarding the process.
“If there are IT (information technology) experts and lawyers in each precinct, some candidates or parties will find it very hard to cheat. They can easily notice if there is something fishy going on,” he said.
Marcos said there was no assurance that massive cheating, which marred past manual elections, will no longer happen once the country’s elections go fully automated.
“We should all guard our votes. We should not allow a repeat of what happened to FPJ,” Marcos said, referring to the late Fernando Poe Jr., who lost during the May 2004 elections to President Arroyo amid allegations of massive cheating.
Coalition ng political parties itatag! – Bongbong
