Marcos and Duterte-Carpio directed their volunteers to distribute medicines and masks in hospitals in the metropolis.

Metro Manila was placed under Alert Level 3 amid surging infections possibly due to the Omicron variant.

The Marcos and Duterte-Carpio UniTeam on Tuesday ordered an inventory and repacking of their supplies in their national headquarters for immediate distribution.

"Napaghandaan na natin ang ganitong sitwasyon o ang posibleng pagtaas muli ng kaso ng Covid-19 (We prepared for this kind of situation or the possible increase again in Covid-19 cases)," the UniTeam said in a statement.

"Kaya may imbak pa rin tayo na mga mask at mga gamot galing sa ating mga taga-suporta (That's why we still have masks and medicines which came from our supporters)," it added.

The duo said they wanted "to prioritize the protection of frontliners since they are key to ensuring the health of the public."

Marcos and Duterte-Carpio said they were resuming the Covid operations which they have already started doing separately, even before the pandemic affected the country in 2020 "which was why there are available supplies, and their volunteers already know what to do in the face of the renewed threat of a new variant."

The National Capital Region and some neighboring provinces will be under the stricter Alert Level 3 from January 3 to January 15.

The UniTeam reminded the public to strictly comply with health protocols and continue to guard against the coronavirus.

The tandem also called for a strengthened national vaccination program since vaccines are the best defense against the Covid virus.
