MANGALDAN, Pangasinan: With less than two weeks before the May 9 elections, the tandem of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is expected to win by an "avalanche" in the vote-rich province of Pangasinan.
Secretary Raul Lambino, United Lights of Pangasinan (Ulopan) chairman, said that Marcos and Duterte-Carpio received the highest number of votes in a survey conducted recently by Ulopan.
Lambino said Marcos will garner at least 70 percent while Duterte-Carpio is expected to get more than 60 percent of the total number of votes cast in Pangasinan on May 9.
Based on the Commission of Elections data, Pangasinan has over two million registered voters, the third highest among the provinces behind Cebu and Cavite.
Lambino is currently the presidential adviser for Northern Luzon and concurrently the administrator and chief executive officer of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority based in Santa Ana town in Cagayan province.
"The survey gave Marcos and Duterte runaway margins against their rivals for president and vice president, respectively," he said.
Lambino added that the result of the survey is not surprising since Pangasinan is part of the so-called Solid North which is known as the bailiwick of the Marcoses.
"On the other hand, the high ratings of Mayor Sara in the province is an expression of gratitude of the Pangasinenses who benefitted from the remarkable leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte," he added.
Duly registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ulopan was established by Lambino in 2014 purposely to promote the welfare and well-being of the Pangasinenses.
"Now with more than 100,000 card-bearing members in all towns and cities in Pangasinan, Ulopan has already established local chapters in different provinces in the country and abroad," Lambino added.
