PRESIDENTIAL candidate and former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., or BBM, and vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio have been endorsed by the highest elected official among the Bugkalot tribe in Quirino province for the May 2022 elections.
Mayor Nieverose Meneses of Nagtipunan town in the province reiterated that already in December last year, she announced that she was part of the BBM-Sara UniTeam as their adopted candidate in the local elections.
Meneses is the daughter of overall chief Rosario Camma of the Bugkalot Federation covering the four provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora and Nueva Ecija.
Camma is also running in this year's polls for governor of Quirino province.
The Bugkalot tribe in the four provinces had been known as a staunch supporter of late former president Ferdinand E. Marcos and many have been vocal in supporting the BBM-Sara UniTeam for the May 2022 elections.
BBM is Marcos' son.
Meneses noted that although she chose to be an independent candidate, she said she now prefers to open her door to all people, groups or parties that can help with Quirino's programs and platforms.
"I am so grateful for the trust, confidence and opportunity the BBM-Sara UniTeam has given us," she said.
She thanked Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) secretary general Tom Lantion and Rep. Jonathan dela Cruz, a known BBM adviser, for their warm welcome.
The former senator is running under the banner of the PFP.
"The desire of the BBM-Sara UniTeam to have unity among Filipinos is something that I also hope for our people in Nagtipunan, which is in the midst of forces driving us to be divided and disintegrated," Meneses said.
She said to promote unity, they formed Team Unity in Nagtipunan town.
"Although some of us belong to other parties for the May 2022 elections, this is not an obstacle to our one and united desire to serve wholeheartedly and truly serve Nagtipunan," Meneses added.
