PRESIDENTIAL candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. asked his fellow Ilocanos to support Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, whom he called the "most competent" vice presidential bet.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio wooed voters in Ilocos Norte on Wednesday.
Marcos said he was the "luckiest" presidential candidate for having Duterte-Carpio, who also believes in the power of unity.
"Ang pagkakaisa ang sagot para sa progreso (Unity is the key to achieve progress)," he added.
The former senator said that Duterte-Carpio shares his strong belief about the "unity" of the North and Mindanao.
Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc, nephew of the presidential aspirant, assured the Uniteam of the solid support of the Ilocos region.
"We pledge our support to the BBM-Sara slate and ito pong Ilocos Norte na probinsya po natin ay hindi naman ganun karami ang boto, pero solid naman ang boto namin (Ilocos Norte may not be a big province, but our votes are solid," Manotoc said.
"Inday Sara has done a lot for Apo BBM. Whenever we go to Davao, Apo Inday Sara would tell her kababayans, 'Protect President Bongbong,'" the younger Marcos said.
"That's why what I want to say to all of you, the north, let us protect Vice President Inday Sara Duterte," he added.
Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio said that the UniTeam will continue the reforms started by her father, President Rodrigo Duterte.
"Ang UniTeam po ang mukha ng pagpapatuloy ng reporma na nasimulan ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Duterte, ang Build, Build, Build at ang pagsugpo sa iligal na droga (The UniTeam is the face of continuity of the reforms started by the administration of President Duterte, Build, Build, Build and fighting illegal drugs)," she said during the UniTeam's grand rally in Paoay, Ilocos Norte on Wednesday night.
"Bakit po UniTeam? Dahil gusto naming lagyan ng mukha ang kasabihan na, 'in unity there is strength,' dahil po gusto namin na makita ng buong mundo na malakas ang Pilipinas dahil nagkakaisa tayong lahat mula Ilocos hanggang Tawi-Tawi, hanggang Mindanao, Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao (Why UniTeam? Because we want to give a face to the saying, 'in unity, there is strength,' because we want the whole world to see that the Philippines is strong because we are united, from Ilocos to Tawi-Tawi, from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao)," she added.
The Build, Build, Build program and the war against illegal drugs are the two initiatives most identifiable with the Duterte administration.
The first is the administration's flagship infrastructure modernization program that has been billed to usher in a new "golden age" of infrastructure development in the country.
It has a total budget of P8 trillion spread across President Duterte's six-year tenure.
Under the program, some 214 airport projects (construction or rehabilitation) were completed, including the Bicol International Airport.
