OCCIDENTAL Mindoro Gov. Eduardo Gadiano has promised to deliver a big win for the frontrunning candidate for President and former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. or BBM in the May 9, 2022 elections.
Marcos on Wednesday campaigned in Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro before joining his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio during the UniTeam grand rally in Lipa City, Batangas.
During the visit of Marcos, Gadiano said the province will give 101 percent of its support for the leading candidate.
"Napakaswerte natin na tayo ang unang binisita sa Mimaropa. Ang Occidental Mindoro ay 101 percent na sumusuporta sa ating magiging Presidente, Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos (We are lucky that he first visited us here in Mimaropa. Occidental Mindoro will our 101 percent support for our next President, Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos)," he also said.
The governor added that Occidental Mindoro is one with Marcos as he brings unity throughout the country.
"We can deliver. Mayor pa ko noon, nadala ko siya sa bayan ng Sablayan. Halos lahat ng residente supporter ni BBM. Maraming Ilocano dito, ako mismo Ilocano kaya lahat dito
BBM (We can deliver a big win for him. I was able to do it in our town in Sablayan when I was still a mayor. Almost all of our residents are supporters of BBM. There are many Ilocanos here, I'm an Ilocano myself, that's why all of us here are for BBM)," he said.
Gadiano added that one reason why he opted to support Marcos was his ability to focus on his tasks of delivering to the people his message of unity and reconciliation without being affected by the dirt and criticisms being thrown his way by his detractors.
"Firm siya. Bilib ako sa kanya dahil lahat ng bira sa kanya 'di niya sinasagot. Talagang hinahayaan niya sila dahil ang gusto niya pagkakaisa (He's really firm. I'm amazed by him because despite all the criticisms against him, he never hit back and let them do it because what he really wants is unity)," he said.
Despite critics underestimating the UniTeam's call for unity, Gadiano believed that it is the best approach a leader should take in addressing the country's problems.
"Ang program kasi ay base sa pangangailangan ng tao. Kung focus 'dun sa tunay na nararamdamang problema ng tao, 'pag ma-address mo 'yun, mabawasan ang paghihirap ng tao. Kaya ang ganda ng kanyang approach (Because his programs are based on the needs of the people. If it focuses on the real problem of the people, if we can address it, then we can ease the burden of the people. That's why his unity approach is really good)," he said.
During his short meeting with mayors and vice mayors in the province, all the local officials vowed to give their full support for the candidacy of Marcos.
For Partido Federal ng Pilipinas provincial chairman Leody Tarriela, the party is doing well in the province.
"The PFP is very good here. I'm very glad ang dami nagsu-suporta dito sa buong probinsya (that the entire province is supporting Marcos). Ang lineup ng PFP dito (The lineup of the PFP here in the province), all the 11 towns are complete, mayors, vice mayors, all for BBM," Tarriela said.
Tarriela said he saw how Marcos supports projects, especially community projects, that will surely help the people.
"He is very supportive of all projects, lalo na community projects, na nagsi-serve sa mga mahihirap nating kababayan, lalo na nasa laylayan. Nakita ko kung paano siya magsuporta," Tarriela said.
"He is a very great leader and I know he will be a great leader of our country," he added.
During his visit, Marcos also pledged to address the perennial power supply problems in Occidental Mindoro after he wins in the scheduled May 9 elections.
Marcos said he is convinced that the fastest way to bring the province to greater progress and development is to ensure continuous supply of affordable power, which in the process could stimulate trade activities and commerce in the province.
"Natanggap ko ang listahan ninyo sa Occidental Mindoro. Ang inaalala ng tao, number one, kailangan ang susunod na administrasyon ay makahanap ng paraan na bawasan ang singil ng kuryente sa taumbayan para makita natin na hindi masyadong nahihirapan ang mga tao," Marcos said.
"Balita ko dito madalas ang brown out. Kailangan nating ayusin 'yan, napakalaking problema niyan," he added.
Aside from addressing the electricity problems, Marcos also vowed that he will fully support agriculture, health and education programs in the province.
He also visited the party's headquarters in the province before going straight to the UniTeam rally site at the Capitol Grounds where he was warmly welcomed by their supporters. Marcos thanked the people of Occidental Mindoro for the warm welcome he received from the people.
He said the UniTeam's message of unity has finally reached Occidental Mindoro. Supporters cut his speech by shouting "Panalo ka na!" and "Hindi kami bayad!" "Nagpapasalamat ang lahat ng UniTeam at tsaka ang tambalang Marcos-Duterte sa mainit na suportang ibinibigay niyo sa amin ngayong araw na 'to," Marcos said.
"Napakalakas ng suporta ng Mamburao, ng buong Occidental Mindoro para sa UniTeam. Kami po lahat ay nag-iikot sa buong Pilipinas at aming isinisigaw ang dala naming mensahe ng pagkakaisa," he added.
