THE presidential and vice presidential bids of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio gained more backing with the recent expression of support from the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte National Executive Committee (MRRD-NECC) to their tandem.
"We believe Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte will be a perfect tandem with the best character, credibility, experience, competence and leadership ability to guide and steer our country for continuity, security, recovery and economic growth," the group said in its manifestation of support delivered by its legal counsel Diosdado Padilla. "We will remain united with Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte in our common objective of promoting the unity of the whole nation, our countrymen and our organization," it added.
The group, with an estimated membership of 1 million — composed of workers, urban poor, farmers, Indigenous Peoples, overseas Filipino workers and LGBTIQ sectors — was instrumental in the campaign and victory of then-mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the 2016 elections.
It also spearheaded the establishment of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, Marcos' political party.
