SUPREME Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen on Tuesday backtracked and withdrew the Show Cause Order he issued against the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) and The Manila Times.
Times sources at the high court privy to the withdrawal said the en banc ruled to revise the draft decision of Leonen on the order for indirect contempt against Solicitor General Jose Calida and this reporter.
The SC, sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal, led by Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta wanted Leonen and the court to focus on the election protest filed by former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos against Vice President Leonor Robredo.
The source said the PET will adopt the Denial of the Inhibition of Leonen on the plea of Calida and Marcos.
