MANGALDAN, Pangasinan: An alliance was formally forged to support the candidates of the UniTeam and Pangasinan's Team Aguila for the coming May 9, 2022 elections.
Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., Lakas-Christian and Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party co-chairman, and Secretary Raul Lambino, the United Lights of Pangasinan (Ulopan) Inc. chairman, led the signing of the alliance agreement held on Thursday, March 17, at Ulopan Center in Barangay Buenlag here.
UniTeam is led by presidential candidate former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. with running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
On the other hand, Aguila (Alyansang Guico-Lambino) has Rep. Ramon Guico 3rd as frontrunner for Pangasinan governor with reelectionist vice governor Mark Lambino.
Revilla thanked the Lambino family and members of Ulopan for their all-out support for Marcos and Duterte-Carpio.
Witnesses during the signing were Lambino, Mangaldan town Mayor Marilyn Lambino of Mangaldan, Vice Mayor Jojo Surdilla and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.
The agreement between the two groups states that "the Lakas-CMD and Ulopan have entered into this alliance based on shared principles, objectives and vision for our country."
"[The alliance was formed] for the purpose of pursuing continuity of good governance and principled leadership personified by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and to help, aid, and assist each other towards achieving victory in the forthcoming 2022 national and local elections," the agreement added.
The alliance signing coincided with the distribution of the Department of Social Works and Development's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations for qualified residents of Mangaldan.
