DAVAO del Norte provincial election supervisor lawyer Aimee Ferolino-Ampoloquio has been named as new commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
President Duterte has nominated Ferolino-Amploquio for a six-year term or until Feb. 2, 2027, replacing Commissioner Al Parreno in 2021. She will officially serve her term upon confirmation by the Commission on Appointments.
Ferolino-Ampoloquiou nomination completed the seven-man Comelec commission en banc.
All members of the en banc, except for Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, were appointed by Duterte. Guanzon was appointed by former President Benigno Aquino 3rd and will end her term on Feb. 2, 2022.
The other members of the Commissioner are Chairman Sheriff Abas; and Commissioners Socorro Inting, Marlon Casquejo, Antonio Kho and Michael Peloton.
Ferolino-Amploquio rose from the ranks. She first joined the Comelec as an emergency laborer in 1994 then became an election assistant for 12 years.
She was later appointed as an election officer in the first district of Davao City, a position she held for 10 years before becoming provincial election supervisor of Davao del Norte on Aug. 3, 2018.
