Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian paid a courtesy call on President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on May 12.Ambassador Huang handed over Chinese President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter on Marcos' election as President of the Philippines, and conveyed warm greetings from President Xi to the latter.

The Ambassador stressed that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Philippines relations have been consolidated and enhanced, bringing benefits to the people of both countries and contributing to regional peace and stability.

China said it is willing to work with the next Philippine government to preserve the good-neighborliness and focus on development, so as to deepen their Relationship of Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation."The bilateral relations will become even stronger, our people closer and our cooperation deeper and wider," Huang said.Marcos then thanked President Xi for his congratulatory message and asked the Ambassador to extend warm greetings to President Xi as well.

He said he highly values the traditional friendship between the Philippines and China and will work for closer ties and deepened cooperation between the two countries. He stressed that he sees a brighter future for Philippines-China relationship.
