PRESIDENTIAL aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio endorsed the senatorial bids of former Public Works secretary Mark Villar, former Malacañang spokesman Harry Roque Jr. and former senator Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada.
Marcos, the standard-bearer of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), introduced Villar, Roque from the People's Reform Party and Estrada from the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) as the UniTeam's senatorial bets in his speech in a rally in Bacoor City, Cavite.
Villar filed his certificate of candidacy under the Nacionalista Party.
Duterte-Carpio also named Villar, Roque and Estrada as her senatorial bets.
The PFP, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) and PMP have formed the UniTeam Alliance to support the election bids of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio. The four parties entered into an alliance agreement on November 25.
Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., co-chairman of Lakas-CMD, pledged the support of Caviteños to Marcos and Duterte-Carpio during the rally in Bacoor.
Revilla recalled that Duterte-Carpio included him in the HNP's senatorial slate for the 2019 elections through the intercession of his wife, Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla.
Former president and Lakas-CMD President Emeritus Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Lakas-CMD President Leyte First District Rep. Martin Romualdez, Villar, Roque and Estrada were among those who attended the rally.
Duterte-Carpio had originally filed for reelection as Davao City mayor. She subsequently withdrew her candidacy, joined Lakas-CMD and filed her candidacy for vice president.
On November 18, Duterte-Carpio was also elected chairman of Lakas-CMD.
The PFP has adopted Duterte-Carpio as its vice presidential bet.
