BACOLOD CITY: The campaign team of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio in Negros Occidental denied allegations that supporters of another candidate were "harassed," former Murcia mayor Sonny Coscolluela said.

Coscolluela issued the statement after his cousin and former governor Rafael Coscolluela claimed in a news conference on Friday that they received reports that "dirty tricks" were employed against the supporters of Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo.

The former governor, Robredo People's Council-Negros Occidental campaign manager, expressed concern over at least five "dirty tricks" used against the Leni-Kiko campaign, namely, "pamahog (threats), patalang (deceptions), pasalig (assurances), pamakal (vote-buying) and pangbaklas (removal of campaign materials)."

Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan is Robredo's running mate in the May 9, 2022 elections.

When asked who might be behind these "dirty tactics," Coscolluela said the Marcos camp is the only one capable of doing it, citing its resources and political clout.

"You check on the records of all police stations, especially in the fourth and the fifth districts as they claimed, there is none," the former mayor said.

"It's the Commission on Elections that has been doing 'Oplan Baklas' and our supporters are well advised not to engage in any inappropriate acts," Coscolluela pointed out.

"Our supporters observe a high level of campaigning for BBM and Sara," Coscolluela said, adding that "BBM will win in honest and peaceful elections."

Coscolluela, on the other hand, promised a landslide win for BBM-Sara in Negros Occidental in next month's polls.

Aside from the 28 mayors in Negros Occidental, several organizations like those from the youth, drivers, LGBTQ, fisherfolk and urban poor have already pledged support for BBM as the elections near.

" They have realized that among the presidential aspirants, BBM showed sincerity in his aim to uplift our lives based on the platform of government that he laid down," Coscolluela said.

He added that even in Talisay City, BBM is winning based on the latest local survey.

"Even in an area they claimed to be their stronghold, BBM will win. The result of the elections will be the solid proof," Coscolluela said.

Meanwhile, about 6,000 supporters in Bago City representing different sectors met with Simon and Vincent Marcos, sons of BBM, Friday last week.

They were also greeted by about 3,500 supporters in Pontevedra.

Local officials led by Fourth District Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer, Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer and several mayors in the province joined the two younger Marcoses during their campaign sorties for their father in the province.

Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos, Bongbong's wife, has roots in Bago City.
