VICE presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio firmly stood by her running mate, former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., as clamor grew for her to pair up with Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso.
Duterte-Carpio, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, insisted that she and Marcos "will always be one team."
"On break from Bacolod/Negros Occidental campaign sortie, waiting to be called on stage," Duterte-Carpio said, as she shared her photo with Marcos on her Facebook page.
"Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte was, is and will always be ONE team. Uniteam. Engaged to work for our country. Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas (Let us love the Philippines)!" she added.
Duterte-Carpio is vying for the vice-presidential seat under the Lakas-CMD (Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats) party with Marcos of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, while Moreno, who is the president and standard-bearer of Aksyon Demokratiko, is running alongside Dr. Willie Ong.
Moreno has previously sought support from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the party headed by Duterte-Carpio's father.
President Rodrigo Duterte, whose term will end in June this year, has not endorsed any of the presidential candidates, even threatening to expose their shortcomings at one point. He also expressed disdain for his daughter's running mate, describing Marcos as "spoiled" and a "weak leader."
The ruling PDP-Laban party previously adopted Duterte-Carpio as its vice presidential candidate for the upcoming national elections.
