BACOLOD CITY: An estimated crowd of 70,000 to 80,000 supporters wearing red and green shirts are expected to attend the grand rally and caravan for the UniTeam of presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio here today, February 23.
Negros Occidental Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer said that some senatorial bets are also arriving for the grand rally which will be held at the open space of Bredco Port.
A grand caravan has been scheduled before the grand rally.
The vice governor, a staunch supporter of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio, said 85 percent of the incumbent mayors and elected officials in the province are supporting the UniTeam.
"I have not talked to Bacolod lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya but I assume he will also support BBM because he and Bacolod mayoralty bet Alfredo 'Albee' Benitez belongs to one political group," Ferrer said.
He said that Bacolod mayoral candidate Alfredo Benitez is expected to attend the grand rally since he already expressed his support to Marcos.
A meeting was held Saturday by the organizers and they agreed to gather the supporters from different areas for the caravan. The southern group will have a motorcade from Bago City and the northern-based supporters will start their caravan in Silay City.
Meanwhile, Ferrer appealed for respect from people supporting other presidential candidates.
Campaign for your candidates, we will campaign for ours," the vice governor said.
Ferrer admitted that since he announced that he is supporting Marcos and Duterte-Carpio, he has been bashed on social media.
"There is no respect anymore. Seems they are the ones who are right. Don't we have freedom anymore? I just don't mind it. I don't even want to question their choice," he said.
"I will not even engage them in street and gutter language. We will campaign on a professional level."
