I sincerely thank the Climate Change Commission, headed by Commissioner Heherson T. Alvarez, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group, represented by Mr. Hans Shrader, for inviting our office to the “Green Building Imperative: An LGU Forum”, held yesterday, 23 April 2014, at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City. It was a fitting occasion to report to the green building sector and local government units the status of the green building initiatives which are pending with the Senate Committee on Public Works, of which I sit as chairman.
The Climate Change Commission and the IFC can be assured that I will give ample time and priority to these Green Building measures, as well as to the moves to amend the National Building Code along this line, so that they may be reported in a timely manner on the floor for plenary consideration by and among my colleagues in the Senate. So, too, will I ensure that the multifaceted advocacies of the Commission and the IFC of reducing our carbon footprint and opening up the potent “green economy”, will be fully heard and deliberated in the Senate.
Once again, thank you very much, and congratulations to the Climate Change Commission and the International Finance Corporation on the success of the green building forum, and I look forward to being their partner in their future events.
Mabuhay po ang Green Building movement ng Pilipinas!
