Senator Bongbong Marcos presides over Senate session for the first time

24 November 2010

First-time-to-presideOn 23 November 2010, Senator Bongbong Marcos experienced for the first time what it was like to be Senate President or Senate President Pro Tempore–for a few minutes, that is. Right after his interpellation of Senator Franklin Drilon on crucial issues about the proposed 2011 national budget, Senator Bongbong Marcos was asked by Senator Jinggoy Estrada to take over the chores of being the presiding officer of the Senate session and briefly sat on the seat of the Senate President. The first-time experience drew cheers from the gallery, as the Senator was likewise a newly minted member of the Senate. The stint only lasted for a few minutes, but of course not without getting the chance to bang the Senate gavel to signal the session’s adjournment upon request by Senate Majority Floor Leader Senator Tito Sotto.
