The Senate issued Resolution No. 303 on 15 December 2010, Wednesday, commending Filipino boxing champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire, Jr., for winning the WBA Bantamweight belt on 4 December 2010. The Filipino champion graced the occasion, which also happened to be the last day of regular session of the year, to personally receive the Resolution from the Senate. He was accompanied by his lovely wife, Rachel Marcial-Donaire.
The Senate Resolution, which was sponsored by Sen. Pia Cayetano, said that the Filipino champion's, "discipline, perseverance, dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship should be recognized to set a good example and serve as an inspiration for the Filipino people."
The Filipino Flash, currently The Ring Magazine's fifth-ranking "pound-for-pound" boxer in the world, stopped former champion Wladimir Sidorenko at the 4th round via technical knockout during their fight on 4 December 2010 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, USA.
