Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. will open the “2014 Ermita Cup” sports competition in Batangas on April 5, 2014.
Sen. Bongbong was invited by Congresswoman Elenita “Eileen” Ermita-Buhain (1st District, Batangas) to do the honors in tossing the ceremonial ball for the opening of the traditional basketball and volleyball tournament of the First District of Batangas to be held at the Balayan Basketball Court in Poblacion, Balayan, Batangas.
Athletes from eight towns of the district - Balayan, Calaca, Calatagan, Lemery, Lian, Nasugbu, Taal, and Tuy, will participate in the exciting sporting event. The opening ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m.
Sen. Bongbong has been actively supporting all proposed measures in the Senate aimed at promoting the welfare of Filipino athletes, and the development of Philippine sports as a whole.
For the youth sector, he has filed Senate Bill 411, otherwise known as the National Internship Act of 2013, seeking to establish a National Internship Program. This program recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation building and it aims to present public service as a viable career option for the young and skilled professionals in the future.
The proposed measure, if enacted into law, will provide an avenue where the State, through its instrumentalities, welcomes the youth who wants to work in and for the government during their breaks from school.
