The LGF-Diamantina National High School in Cabatuan, Isabela now has a new school building for students’ laboratory activities, after Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. turned over the building to officials, teachers and students of the high school. The ceremony was held at the school grounds and attended by members of Friends of Imelda Marcos (FIRM).

The construction of the building was funded through the Priority Assistance Development Fund (PDAF) of the Senator.

After the program, Sen. Bongbong inaugurated the Rangay-Del Corpuz road concreting project, also funded through his PDAF, located in Tandang Sora st., Cabatuan.
The turnover and inauguration ceremonies were highlights of the senator’s visit to Cauayan City, Isabela, where he was the special guest of honor of the city’s “Gawagawayan Festival,” held before the weeklong Lenten break.

In his “Barangay Night” speech, Sen. Bongbong congratulated Isabela Gov. Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, Cauayan City Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy, city councilors, members of the provincial council, and barangay leaders for a successful festival.

Being chair of the Senate Committee on Local Government, Sen. Bongbong pointed out the importance of the local government units (LGUs), emphasizing that projects by the national government could not be implemented without support from the LGUs.
“Lahat ng serbisyo ng ating pamahalaan ay hindi aabot sa ating taumbayan kungi hindi sa ating mga local government officials,” he said.

Sen. Bonbong also announced that he is set to report to the Senate his proposed measure seeking to provide death and health benefits for barangay elected officials when the session resumes in May.

The Senator vowed to push for the enactment of the measure as a gesture of concern for the officials, as well as for the recognition of their unsung service to the public, being the frontliners of the government.

Sen. Bonbong also assured that he would continue to support the LGUs, which he considered indispensable partners of the national government in nation building.

“Asahan po ninyo na ang inyong senador na walang tigil, walang kupas, walang patid ang ating gagawing trabaho upang matulungan ang local governments,” the Senator said.
