Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr., Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Works, is set to conduct a hearing tomorrow, May 8, 2014, regarding various bills seeking to amend the National Building Code. The amendments not only ensure the safety and well-being of Filipinos, but also to help address the problems threatened by global warming.
The hearing will discuss various proposals—including the SB No. 410 or “The Philippine Green Building Act filed by Sen. Bongbong—establishing rules and regulations to promote building practices for safer yet environment-friendly structures.
At the same time, the committee will tackle proposals seeking to strengthen the code towards improving the structural integrity of the buildings in the country, amid the growing concerns due to geologic hazards and destructive weather disturbances, such as super-typhoon Yolanda.
