“True service is said to generate the fellowship that encourages others to go several notches higher for service to country and the people,” this was the statement of Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos during the recently concluded district conference of Rotary Club International District 3770.
As part of the twenty-fifth anniversary celebration of Rotary Club District 3770, the conference was held in Camp John Hay, Baguio City, under the helm of District Governor Corina Tengco-Bautista. Senator Marcos was invited to grace the occasion as guest of honor and speaker.
Rotary International is a worldwide service-oriented civic organization that is found in various countries all over the world. It aims to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service to their respective communities and help build goodwill and friendship in the world at large. The life of Rotary in the Philippines started way back in 1919 with the Rotary Club of Manila as the first club to be established. Several Rotary districts were subsequently born and one of these is District 3770, which twenty-five years ago and now boasts of 62 strong clubs from Bulacan to Batanes, including Senator Marcos’ very own Ilocos Norte.
Senator Marcos praised the kind of effective leadership that Rotary Club District 3770 has exemplified through its vibrant programs and projects, and its solid organizational foundation. He also expressed his commendation to District Governor Bautista for her outstanding leadership.
Senator Marcos conveyed his hope that Rotary will continue its service of reaching out with its commitment of service within our shores to enhance humanity. “Sana’y tuluy-tuloy ang asikaso n’yo sa ating mga kababayan, lalo na sa mahihirap sa inyong distrito,” Sen. Marcos said as he ended his speech.
