Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to pay in advance the compensation of teachers who will render service in the May 2013 elections.
The senator likewise called on the poll body to give the honoraria of the mentors in full.
In the past, many teachers who assisted in the elections had protested of the delay of the release of honoraria due them. They also complained that the pay was given on installment basis, in some cases long after the elections and their tasks had been completed.
“The Comelec should pay the teachers ahead of the May elections. The Comelec wants a fair and honest election but fairness should also be given to teachers by paying them in full ahead of the polls,” Marcos said.
