Former senator Bongbong Marcos said Saturday he suggested to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio that they run together in the 2022 elections as he insisted on running for president.
Marcos did not specifically mention Duterte-Carpio running as his vice president. However, he said sliding to number two was not an option because he had "nowhere else to go".
"Sabi ko, 'pinakamagandang siguro magsama tayo kasi maganda ang magiging team natin, matibay-tibay 'yan' so hindi siya nagre-reject ng kahit anong idea," the only son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos told DZRH.
President Rodrigo Duterte's daughter, in a whirlwind of political developments last week, dropped her reelection bid, quit her own party, met a close ally in Balesin Island, joined former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's Lakas-CMD, stood as a wedding sponsor with Marcos Jr., then retreated back to Davao.
Duterte-Carpio has until Nov. 15 to decide whether or not to run for president, vice president or any national office via substitution.
"Lahat 'yan may possibility except 'yung mag-slide down ako dahil wala na akong talagang option."
"We'll just have to wait for her decision. I've made my decision, I'm continuing to run for the presidency, we will have to wait for what Inday Sara has decided to do."
