Dios ti agngina kadakayo amin.

My dear friends, the name of your municipality sounds like an ethnic tribal drumbeat! But when I went over the history of your town, I discovered that Talugtug means “TOP” and derived from the original name of Talugtug-Balite, in reference to the Balete tree on top of the hill near the Cuyapo-MuÑoz trail. I realized then why the etymology of the name of your town means so much to you that today you celebrate your founding anniversary. The rest is history’. From a barrio in 1917 in the Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija Talugtug became the 26th municipality in the Province of Nueva Ecija in the year 1948.

As you are very well aware, I have been the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Government for the past four years now, that is why I try my best always to visit the more far-flung municipalities whenever I am invited, especially as I was informed that your town has a ranking as a fourth class municipality with 28 barangays, with farming and cattle raising as your main source of livelihood. With Our Lady of Perpetual Help as your town’s Patron Saint . I am certain that with the intercession of Our Blessed Virgin Mary, Talugtug will eventually improve it’s standing to a 3rd class and eventually to become a 1st class municipality climbing, all the way to the TOP – as the name of your municipality stands for!

Ladies and gentlemen, I am sure that you are all eager to continue with your celebration this evening so I will not take more of your time. Let me just say before I close that as we go on with the merriment, let us not forget that all of us here gathered tonight have the continuing moral responsibility to exert all our efforts and utilize all our talents not only for the betterment of the people and town of Talugtug, but more importantly for the growth of your province; and most of all for your committed participation in the task of nation building.

Let me therefore wish you all the best as you go on with your celebrations and let me warmly congratulate your Reigning Beauties, especially Ms. Talugtug of 2014.

Again, let me thank you all most sincerely for your kind invitation and truly warm hospitality!

Maraming Maraming Salamat sa Inyong Lahat!

Dios Ti Agngina Kadakayo Amin nga Kakabsat!

Mabuhay ang Talugtug! Mabuhay ang Sambayanang Pilipino!
Magandang gabi muli sa inyong lahat!

Naiimbag a rabii yo Amin Apo.
