Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., Representing the Senate, Hands over Senate Resolution 143, Extending Condolences to the Families and Victims of the Hostage Crisis, to Chinese Ambassador Liu Jianchao

Marcos Jr. joined Aquino cabinet members including DILG Secretary Robredo and DFA Secretary Romulo in ceremonies held at the NAIA last Thursday August 26, 2010 to see off the survivors as well as the remains of the dead victims of the hostage taking carnage that took place last Monday, August 23, 2010 in front of the Quirino Grand Stand at the Luneta Park in Manila.Senator Marcos counts himself as an old friend of the people of China having been one of its’ earliest visitors from the Philippines way back in the early 70’s when his late father, President Marcos, opened diplomatic relations with China during the reign of Chairman Mao Tse Tung and Prime Minister Zhou Enlai. Senator Marcos has since visited the People’s Republic of China numerous times, as Governor of Ilocos Norte and on various official missions these last three decades. He expressed his deep sorrow and rue over the unfortunate incident that took the lives of seven Chinese nationals by extending his condolences to the relatives of those that perished and to the Chinese government through its Ambassador here in Manila.
