Senator Bongbong Marcos expresses concern and support for casual and contractual government employees
At the hearing of the Senate Committee on Civil Service held last 11 November 2010 at the Camp Crame Custodial Center and presided by recipient of presidential amnesty Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Senator Bongbong Marcos said that he is inclined to support efforts to relieve the plight of casual and contractual government employees, brought about by various issues such as their lack of security of tenure and deprivation of the usual employment benefits for regular government employees. He said that the problems can be solved whether in the form of legislation or mere inter-department coordination, and in accordance with law and the Constitution.
The hearing revealed that there are more than 100,000 government employees, who are engaged as either casual, contractual, and “job order” or “job sharing”, and who thus are deprived of security of tenure and employees’ benefits package unlike their colleagues who are regular and permanent government employees.(photos courtesy of Sen.
