Sen. Bongbong Marcos: Pacquiao, A “True Gentleman and Class Act”

Committee on Rules Hearing Re: Simple Resolutions –

Taking opportunity at a Senate Committee hearing to congratulate Manny Pacquiao for his recent victory, Senator Bongbong Marcos called the Filipino boxing icon a “truly exceptional, spectacular, unusual, and singular champion” and a “true gentleman and class act”. He referred not only to the Filipino champion’s boxing skills but also to the latter’s
professionalism and genuine sportsmanship–qualities which Pacquiao had profoundly displayed in the fight with Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito on 14 November 2010.

Speaking at the Senate Committee on Rules hearing on 17 November 2010, Senator Bongbong also said that Pacquiao’s level of achievement is the kind of model that the Senate’s standards of commendation of Filipino athletes and achievers could be patterned after. This way, the Senate resolutions of commendation can truly mix a healthy balance of recognition of achievement, ability to inspire and encourage Filipinos, and conferment of prestige.
