Remate – LP cannot consider Team PNoy as a Senate bloc – Marcos

By Estong Reyes | Remate

remateSENATOR Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., debunked administration’s beliefs that the 9 senatorial winners in Team PNoy will be a formidable bloc to behold them in favor of President Benigno Aquino III’s leadership agenda in the Senate.

In the weekly Kapihan sa Senado, Marcos said it doesn’t mean that the thinking of the Palace, when you run under Team PNoy, more or less winners can be considered as LP, and they will stand for the administration.

“Kaya kung sino magkasama sa eleksiyon nito, election to election lang yan, nagbabago ang magkasama, hindi na magkasama,” he added.

The 9 winners in the Team PNoy are independent Senators Grace Poe Llamanzares and Francis Escudero, Nationalist People’s Coalition’s Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, Antonio Trillanes and Cynthia Villar of Nacionalista Party; Bam Aquino of LP, Koko Pimentel of Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP-Laban) and Juan Edgardo Angara of Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP).
He added that unfortunately, political parties in the country are not ideologically based, but merely on election to election basis where coalitions are formed for marriage of convenience.

“Maliwanag naman, it has been become very much a marriage of convenience, a marriage which is not long lasting,” Marcos said.
Marcos said that after the proclamation of nine winners in the Team PNoy coalition, everyone is a clean sheet which has to start from zero, and renegotiate again on their new contract in the Senate.

“Kaya puwede mong sabihin na pagkatapos ng halalan, pagkatapos ng proklama, clean sheet na naman yan, starting from zero, where do we stand now, what do we do,” he said.

“Those coalitions we have talked about, they still mean something. But we are essentially renegotiated our contract,” he added.
The Ilocano senator also said that during the campaign, the Nacionalista Party, coalesced with the Liberal party, run its own independent campaign from Team PNoy.

“I can talk about Nacionalista Party, the NP campaign is run independently from the Team PNoy, although our candidates joined them, the actual campaign was not run together, was not run as integrated campaign all the senators are included,” he explained.
He even cited the case of Nationalist People’s Coalition for former Ambassador Danding Cojuangco, which coalesced left and right not only during elections but also their incumbency in Congress.

“The coalitions in the last election, like the NPC, one year before the election said that their coalition has been non-existent, sinabi nga ni Tito Sotto, hindi na nabuo kasi hindi nagkasundo,” Marcos said.
