Lim , Bong-Bong Marcos throw support for each other
Mayor Alfredo S. Lim and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand `Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. (2nd district) on Friday threw their support for each other during a rare meeting at the Manila City Hall.
Bongbong and his sister Imee were welcomed at City Hall by key officials led by Lim himself, tourism chief Gemma Cruz-Araneta, chief of staff Ric de Guzman and sixth district satellite officer and now Lim’s congressional candidate Sandy Ocampo, as the siblings paid a friendly visit to the mayor.
Lim consistently referred to Bongbong as `Senator’ and pledged support for the latter’s candidacy. Bongbong is gunning for a Senate seat in 2010 elections.
He said that the Senate was in need of young blood, independent-minded and idealistic lawmakers like Bongbong.
“I told him (Marcos) a month ago that I will support his candidacy. I strongly believe in his competence and capability. He brings new hope for our country,” Lim said.
Bongbong thanked Lim as he expressed support for the mayor, who is seeking reelection as Manila mayor.
“We all have party allies but Mayor Lim has always been and will always be a friend, so we are also willing to help him,” Bongbong said.
Bongbong described Lim as a longtime friend who was one of the rare sitting officials that truly and fully understand their purpose for being in their office.
When Lim ran for the Senate in 2004, the Marcoses also supported him.
Lim presented to both Bongbong and Imee the key to the city as a way of welcoming them to Manila, He cited Bongbong as someone whose idealism and principles could bring the country to greater heights.
“Definitely, Bongbong can do something good for the Filipinos. With him in the Senate, the country is in good hands,” Lim said. (PNA)
