Bongbong Marcos Meets with Former Malacañang Staffers

Malacanang-StaffIlocos Norte Representative and Nacionalista Party (NP) senatorial candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. on Saturday received a rousing and touching welcome from ex- members of President Ferdinand E. Marcos’ presidential staff in Antipolo City.

In a meeting with his late father’s presidential staff residing in Bagong Nayon, Cogeo, Antipolo, Rizal on April 24, 2010; Marcos expressed his heartfelt thanks to the group and told them that he had fond and wonderful memories of them during their time and stay in Malacañang Palace.

“My family and I express our unending thanks to all of you who served us well during the years that we were in Malacañang. It is very heartening to know that even after years of not being able to see you, little has changed and that your affections for us have not wavered,” Marcos said.

Marcos also noted that the expression of enduring love and undying support by the former staff members of President Marcos is an immense inspiration for him to uplift the lives of ordinary Filipinos.

Dubbed as “Bongbong’s Hour,” the nostalgic get-together and homecoming event was organized by Batang Malacañang, a group composed of former staff members of the late President Marcos.

The Ilocano congressman was treated to a poignant surprise when the group, numbering about 2,000 entertained him with a series of lively dance numbers performed by the staff and their families.

Many of the attendees reminisced about the good old days, when Bongbong’s late father was still the president. Some even cried when they started to recall their everyday experiences with the former First Family in Malacañang Palace.

The group also vowed to unconditionally support the youthful solon’s quest to clinch a Senate seat in the upcoming elections.

“It is our distinct honor to have served the Marcoses during their stay in Malacañang. Now that Bongbong is set to go to the Senate, he can rely on our support again,” said one of the former staffers.
