The UniTeam of presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte is seeking an exemption from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to allow them to send aid to victims of tropical storm Agaton.

The UniTeam has activated its relief operations team while waiting for the approval of Comelec.

Comelec has prohibited those running for public office to hand over any form of help, which could be construed as vote-buying.

“Humihingi po ako ng pasensya sa ating mga kababayan dahil hindi kami agad makapagpadala ng mga tulong bagamat nakahanda naman tayo, kaya lang ay tali ang ating kamay dahil nga sa mga batas na may kaugnayan sa halalan,” Marcos said.

Flooding has also so far displaced 23,841 families with 3,228 families or 11,264 persons now staying at 52 evacuation centers.

Last December, the UniTeam held a series of relief operations to help victims of super typhoon Odette in Butuan City, Dinagat Islands, Cebu, and Southern Leyte delivering millions worth of food packs and construction materials.
