Following a series of caucuses, members of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) have decided to support presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte in the upcoming May elections.

TUCP spokesperson Alan Tanjusay said the choice was a majority decision from their members in major industries such as service, agriculture and manufacturing sectors. A series of online and hybrid face-to-face and combined caucuses were conducted since late last year.

“The vote advantage of Mr. Marcos and Ms. Duterte and with those four other pairs of presidential and vice-presidential aspirants was very wide. It was an overwhelmingly majority decision in all caucuses held differently in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,” said Tanjusay.

Tanjusay said union members were made to choose between aspirants Marcos and Duterte, Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan; Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Sen. Tito Sotto, and Sen. Manny Pacquiao and Buhay Rep. Lito Atienza.

TUCP president and Rep. Raymond Mendoza said a formal endorsement of Marcos and Duterte will be held within the week. The group will also release the names of senatorial candidates that it will support.
