The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has dismissed a petition that sought to cancel the certificate of candidacy of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez said recently that the petition of Tiburcio Marcos has been turned down by the poll body.
“The one filed by Tiburcio Marcos has already been denied,” he Jimenez said
“I think it was dimissed before new year,” he added.
Aside from the petition of Tiburcio, the COMELEC also junked the petition of Danilo Lihaylihay that sought to declare Marcos a nuisance candidate.
The poll body pointed out in a resolution dated Dec. 16 that, contrary to claims of the petitioner, “Respondent (Marcos) does not fall under any of the three types of nuisance candidates.”
