The UniTeam of presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday partnered with the camp of Dinagat Island Gov. Arlene Bag-ao to distribute cash assistance and relief goods to the victims of typhoon Odette.
On behalf of Bag-ao, a stalwart of Liberal Party (LP), Provincial Administrator Dr. Aimee Jimeno received P1 million in financial assistance and 1,000 sacks of rice from the UniTeam Alliance for the affected residents of Dinagat Islands.
“As Bongbong Marcos and Inday Sara have been saying for a long time, our team is always for unity. No political color, especially in this very difficult time,” said House Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, president of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats.
The UniTeam also turned over P1 million cash aid, 1,500 sacks of rice, 800 pairs of slippers, 10 units of bucket water filter system, and other relief items to Dinagat Islands Rep. Alan Ecleo, a member of Lakas-CMD.
Ecleo’s family is a political rival of Bag-ao.
“We draw and provide strength that the people badly needed in this time of calamity from cooperation and unity,” Romualdez added.
Marcos and Duterte also visited Palawan to hand over P2 million in financial aid and 2,000 sacks of rice to Gov. Pepito Alvarez.
They also turned over P100,000 each to seven mayors in Palawan and P200,000 to Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo Bayron to be distributed to the typhoon victims.
Although they are not politically aligned, Alvarez and Bayron joined Marcos and Duterte during the turnover ceremony.
