Former Senator and bilyonaryo Manny Villar has nothing but praise for former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who is running for president in the May elections.
Villar, the country’s richest man, has all but formally endorsed Marcos’ presidential bid as he heaped praises on the former senator in his latest social media post.
The former Senate President commended Marcos for his “toughness of spirit,” charisma, and vision for the country while admiring his message of national unity on the campaign trail. The Instagram post included a photo of Villar and Marcos sharing a laugh at a social event. Both politikos were clad in red shirts, the political color associated with the Marcoses.
“Bongbong Marcos has shown toughness of spirit and resoluteness amidst the barrage of attacks against him & his family. These qualities and his charisma have inspired staunch loyalty among those who believe in him,” Villar wrote on Instagram.
“The more people get to see him and hear him talk about his message of national unity, the more they are impressed by his character and his vision for the country,” he said.
Marcos thanked Villar for the kind words, calling the former senator a good friend.
“I am honored to be the subject of these kind and generous words, @mannyvillar. I am truly fortunate to be one who calls you a friend,” he said.
Marcos, a frontrunner in recent presidential surveys, was previously a member of the Villar-led Nacionalista Party. He left the party last year to run for president under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
Villar earlier expressed support for vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio, running mate of Marcos Jr. He described the President’s daughter as “wonder woman.”
Former Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, son of the bilyonaryo, is running for senator under the ticket of Marcos Jr. and Duterte.
