Senatorial candidate JV Ejercito still considers former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. a good friend even though he has not been included in his senatorial slate in the May polls.
The former senator took to Twitter to share his encounter with Marcos during a campaign activity, saying they remain “friends beyond politics.”
Ejercito, son of former President Joseph Estrada, is seeking a return to the Senate in the May elections. He is not part of the senatorial slate of the presidential tandem of Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio. His half-brother, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, on the other hand, is included in Marcos-Duterte’s senatorial team.
“Nice to see you again my good friend BBM! Even if I am on an ‘uncertain’ status as you said, thank you for welcoming me to join your sorties,” Ejercito tweeted.
“Kahit na hindi ako parte ng Uniteam. Tayo ay matagal ng magkaibigan. Friends beyond politics,” he said.
Ejercito’s post with Marcos drew negative reaction from several netizens online.
But the former senator defended his friendship with Marcos, saying there was nothing wrong with it despite their different political affiliations.
“Dami agad nega reaction when I posted pic with BBM. I am not part of their UNITEAM to be clear. Hindi masama maging magkaibigan kahit na iba ang partido,” he tweeted.
