Senatorial candidate Robin Padilla admires the simplicity of former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Padilla gave the compliment to Marcos after seeing him munching on empanada during a campaign sortie in Ilocos province. Marcos returned to his home province to campaign for his tandem with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio and their senatorial slate.
“Napakasimpleng Tao ni BBM Genuine Ilocano!” Padilla wrote on Facebook.
Padilla’s latest Facebook post included a short video clip showing Marcos eating the popular Ilocos empanada. The presidential aspirant was on a meal break with Mayor Chavit Singson of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur and senatorial bet Rep. Rodante Marcoleta when Padilla was filming via his mobile phone.
Padilla, a known supporter of President Duterte, recently got the endorsement of Mayor Sara ahead of the May polls. President Duterte earlier backed the senatorial run of Padilla, who has landed in the Magic 12 based on recently pre-election surveys.
The actor has profusely thanked the Dutertes for their support.
“Muli, salamat sa suporta sa aking kandidatura, Mayor Sara Duterte.Isusulong natin sa senado ang kapakanan ng mga Pilipino mula Luzon hanggang Mindanao,” the actor said.
Marcos later clarified that Padilla is not technically part of the UniTeam senatorial team despite Mayor Sara’s endorsement. Still, the former senator considers Padilla a friend and will bring him along in the team’s campaign visits.
“Alam niyo po, si Robin Padilla, kahit hindi po namin kasama ‘yan sa line up ng mga senador ay matagal na po naming naging kaibigan ‘yan,” Marcos said during a campaign rally in Ilocos Norte.
“At kaya naman eh kahit na hindi siya technically naisama, eh pagka-nandiyan siya, kapag mayroon siyang panahon eh sinasama namin,” he said.
