Outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte has urged Filipinos to support the administration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. so that they can sustain the gains made under the present government.

“We must all be united in confronting the issues ahead of us. We have no room for politicking or go into a divisive exercise in whatever endeavors that you can think of just to divide the country. Huwag nating gawain ‘yan,” Duterte said during his pre-recorded public address Monday.

The President also asked the Filipino people to give the Marcos administration “goodwill and best wishes” as they endeavor to lead the country towards a better future.

He and his administration are ready to hand over the reins to the incoming leaders, said Duterte, who is stepping down from office on June 30.

“I assure everyone that this process will be smooth and peaceful as we want the next administration to succeed for the benefit of the country,” he added.
