PIATUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Sept. 9 (PIA) -- Cagayan 3rd District Representative Randolph S. Ting has requested the upper house to finance the construction of an alternative bridge here crossing the Cagayan River.

Ting, during the public consultation on infrastructure development plan of Senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, senate committee on infrastructure and local governance, told that the province’s two bridges, the Buntun Bridge in Tuguegarao City and the Magapit Suspension Bridge in Lal-lo, both crossing the country’s longest river, are already reaching their maximum life span.

“We hope that there will be a reliable alternate route in the event that these old bridges will become impassable. Therefore, in anticipation for such scenario, we are proposing for the construction of an alternate bridge across the Cagayan River,” the lawmaker said.

Ting added that they already conducted a feasibility study and funding requirements for the proposed bridge project connecting Tuguegarao City to Solana town, a gateway to different municipalities in Cagayan and in neighboring provinces.

On the other hand, Marcos assured him that they will evaluate the possibility of constructing another bridge here and study further their feasibility study to be included in their infrastructure development plan.

Marcos further stated that he will support proposed projects that are beneficial for the public, economic growth and development of the countryside.
