Featured-Image-Journal-OnlineSENATOR Ferdinand Marcos Jr. pressed a “deeper” review of the utilization of the pork barrel fund way up to 1986 all the way down to 2012 to get a real picture of the alleged misuse of the priority development assistance fund (PDAF).

“We should look into the fund utilization not only from 2007-2009 but from 1986 up to 2012 and not only the senators and congressmen but all the departments of government and their officials,” Marcos said.

“Nabanggit ang DBM (Department of Budget and Management), DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways), DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development), DA (Department of Agriculture) at mga iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan. Sila din ang dapat siyasatin at imbestigahan upang malaman nating lahat ang katotohanan,” he said.

The senator issued the challenge to concerned agencies as he expressed support to the Million People March against PDAF. “Kaisa ako sa mga ipinaglalaban ng libu-libong kababayan natin na buwagin na ang PDAF,” he said.

“More than the abolition, I share the thirst of so many of our people to know the truth behind the allegations to this pork barrel mess. Buong katotohanan ang kailangan at hindi pinipiling akusasyon upang isulong ang interes ng mga iilan,” Marcos said.

Sen. Nancy Binay has also questioned the reported almost Php2 billion insertion in the proposed 2014 budget of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). “The news on the Php1.9-billion alleged insertion came to me as a surprise. Pero ang kailangan bantayan natin dito yung insertions na hindi naman kasama sa scope of work ng mga agency pero ginawan ng justification. “

“We should be more judicious and meticulous in scrutinizing the 2014 budget down to every line and detail. I encourage the people to be vigilant and participate in the budget process by attending the hearings conducted by both Houses of Congress,” Binay said.

“Higit pa sa pagtanggal nito, kaisa din ako sa mga libu-libong mamamayan na nagnanais malaman ang katotohanan sa likod ng issue na ito. Hindi lamang nagsalita ang mga boss, kumilos pa sila upang iparinig ito. Shall we try to appease them with mere promises? No, they want the truth now! Not empty or sinister promises!” Marcos said.
