Manila residents heed call for unity; pick BBM their best choice for president

21 February 2022

JUDGING with the way people of Manila gave their warm reception and support to presidential bet Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., there was no denying that he is the top choice for president of the country's capital.

Mayoralty aspirant Alex Lopez hammered on that point by saying that he possessed the abilities and characteristics of the best president.

“He has the vision, he has the heart, he has the will power …  At sa galing niya and sa competence niya, with his vision, I think he will make the best president,” Lopez said.

Lopez said UniTeam’s call for unity is an empowerment tool to help improve the lives of the marginalized sector, that has been neglected for a long time.

“We are calling for unity to support BBM and Sara, and we are also calling for change, a drastic change for the people of Manila. It’s about time that we uplift the lives of the poor,” he said.

“They have been much neglected, and the marginalized have not been uplifted, so we are moving for marginalized empowerment. You need unity to empower the marginalized,” he added.

While the City of Manila is headed by another presidential candidate, Lopez boldly declared earlier that a huge number of people will be coming out to the streets to meet Bongbong.

True enough, Marcos bravely conquered another candidate’s bailiwick as he reached out to Manila residents on Sunday.

Clad in red, hundreds of thousands of UniTeam supporters in the city joined Marcos as he traveled from Parola to Herbosa Street in Tondo for two hours.

Seeing him for the first time, Manila supporters couldn’t help but admire and cheerfully shouted “BBM!” wherever he passed by in the city.

The streets of Manila were filled with love for Marcos as he accepted red roses from city residents and was warmly welcomed by supporters by waving flags, dancing, and marching bands.

Most of the supporters, especially the elderly, were also crying for joy as they waved their banners and tarpaulins. Even Grab riders stopped for a while to have a glimpse of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard- bearer.

One of the supporters wholeheartedly shouted: “Walang matutulog sa election! Panalo na tayo!”

Due to the slow movement of the motorcade, Marcos had the time to sign some shirts, tarpaulins, and images brought by the supporters.

The motorcade ended at around 5:30 p.m.

Lopez led the inauguration of UniTeam headquarters in Jabaneros, Binondo, Manila.

“We were supposed to cover three districts but only managed one district. We were mobbed every step of the way. We would like to thank the people of Tondo for their warm welcome,” he said.

He also apologized to supporters who were waiting in areas that Marcos could no longer visit.

“Alam ko madaming naghintay dahil may mga announcements but we are thankful for their warm reception,” Lopez said.

“He has the vision, he has the heart, he has the willpower …  At sa galing niya and sa competence niya, with his vision, I think he will make the best president,” ayon kay Lopez.

“We are calling for unity to support BBM and Sara, and we are also calling for change, a drastic change for the people of Manila. It’s about time that we uplift the lives of the poor,” wika niya.

“They have been much neglected, and the marginalized have not been uplifted, so we are moving for marginalized empowerment. You need unity to empower the marginalized,” dagdag pa nito.

“We were supposed to cover three districts but only managed one district. We were mobbed every step of the way. We would like to thank the people of Tondo for their warm welcome,” sabi niya.

“Alam ko madaming naghintay dahil may mga announcements but we are thankful for their warm reception,” wika ni Lopez.
