If elected, presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said he will appoint his running mate and vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio to the Department of National Defense (DND).
During One PH’s Sa Totoo Lang interview on Monday, Jan. 24 Marcos Jr. said that is what the presidential daughter wants.
“Nagulat din ako noong sinabi nya sakin (I was also surprised when she told me), but it seems it’s going to be a good idea,” he said.
For Marcos Jr., it was a good idea, considering Duterte-Carpio’s experience in the local government in terms of security and terrorism problems they used to face in Davao.
Marcos Jr. was also sold when Duterte-Carpio told him she has already done a lot of programs that prevented people from joining terrorist groups, which she said might be done in a national level.
“I’m sure marami syang mga bagong ideas na naiba doon sa dati na dapat nating tingnan (she has a lot of new ideas that are different from before). She’s a very intelligent person,” he said.
Recently, Duterte-Carpio said she will push for mandatory military service for those 18 years old once she becomes the vice president.
She said she will use her office to urge the Congress to make a law mandating male and female individuals to be enlisted in the military.
