Manila Bulletin : BBM-Sara tandem wins in Rizal Province

More than half of the registered voters in Rizal Province voted for the tandem of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong Marcos Jr, and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

Based on the certificate of canvas processed by the Provincial Board of Canvassers in Rizal, presumptive president Marcos, Jr. garnered 765,644 votes as against Vice President Leonor “Leni” Robredo who got 371,399 votes.

Marcos Jr.’s total number of votes is equivalent to 60 percent of the votes cast by 1,298,078 voters who actually voted in the recent national and local elections in Rizal.

Robredo’s votes are equivalent to 29.10 percent of the total number of votes cast in the province.

For the vice presidential race, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte (Carpio) received 688,737 votes or 54.42 percent of the total number of votes cast.

Senator Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto garnered 273,618 votes, while Senator Francisco ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan received 221,528 votes.

There were 65,301 ballots rejected by the vote counting machines, according to the same certificate of canvass from the provincial electoral board.

During the campaign in December last year, Marcos Jr. and Duterte received a warm welcome from their supporters in the province.

Several caravans supporting the BBM-Sara tandem were also held by volunteers in different parts of the province, including youth groups in Binangonan.

In Binangonan alone, Marcos Jr., was the voters’ top choice as he garnered 67,687 votes as against Robredo’s 32,589 votes.

Duterte, meanwhile, got 57,104 votes while Pangilinan received 28,149 votes.

Governor Rebecca Ynares and her son, incoming Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro “Junjun” Ynares, III were among those who welcomed Marcos Jr. and Duterte during the campaign sorties. Other national candidates who visited the province, including Vice President Robredo and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, were treated fairly.
