LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Short of saying that this could be his last hurrah, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has admitted that he is considering running for president in the 2022 national elections amid the support he is receiving from some sectors and political groups.
Some political observers aver BBM — moniker of the only son of the late strongman Ferdinand Edralin Marcos Sr. — could have learned his “lessons” from the 2016 vice presidential race as he is now reaching out to various political camps.
Earlier, political leaders of the so-called Solid North have expressed their strong support for the BBM presidential bid.
On the other hand, the Waray-Waray groups whose pride was his mother former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos would surely support BBM.
BBM also confirmed that he was talking to both factions of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) since he has friends from both sides.
But everything “is very fluid,” Marcos also admitted Wednesday night during a virtual forum organized by the Anvil Business Club. (ai/mtvn)
