Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appealed to the faithful to celebrate the Holy Week in the spirit of forgiveness, love of family and fellowmen as well as unity towards the greater good.
“Let this Holy Week be a time for reflection and renewal as we commemorate the death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross,” said Marcos in his Lenten message.
“May all of us revisit and find meaning in our Lord’s sacrifice and make it our anchor for our own trials and sufferings with the hope that in the end there is joy, resurrection and salvation for each one of us,” he added.
Marcos, who is running for vice president in the May national elections, and presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe, will take a break from campaign sortie during Lent.
“Lahat naman siguro ng kandidato gusto ring magdasal at magpahinga para naman makasama rin ang ating mga pamilya at makapagdasal nang taimtim. Actually, ako, I welcome it and I’m sure you all do also,” said Poe in a chance interview.
Pressed whether she has a prayer for the Lenten season, Poe said: ”Oo, pero baka kulang ‘yung oras natin kung sasabihin ko sa inyo. Marami, a hundred ang aking dasal itong Lenten season.”
“To summarize it, (ito) ay para sa lagpas 100 milyong mga Pilipino na talagang kailangan natin iangat ang buhay. At hinihiling ko bilang isang kandidato, kung ako ay mabibigyan ng pagkakataon na sana makatulong ako ayon sa nararapat, gusto ng Diyos at kailangan ng tao,” she added.
Asked to comment on the call of fellow presidential candidate, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, for the candidates to observe a “ceasefire” during the Lenten season, Poe said: ”Sila nga ‘yung nambabato sa akin.”
