Swimsuit bonding in Pansol suggests Robredo-Caguioa’s connection – PET insider

‘’PHOTOS of the swimming pool party in a Pansol resort in Laguna which were proudly displayed in Facebook posts have betrayed what appears to be a secret liaison between Leni Robredo’s team and vice presidential poll recount ponente Benjamin Caguioa,” a PET insider disclosed yesterday.

The PET insider also said Team Leni’s close ties with the high court’s revisors is a known fact at the revision floor and was bolstered by reports that Caguioa himself dropped by at the swimsuit bonding in Laguna.

A check with the Pansol resort attendance record, however, showed that Caguioa was not in the vicinity on such date when PET revisors and Leni’s team rented the place for a swimming pool party on June 22, 2018, a Sunday.

Caguioa’s office also denied vehemently that the VP poll recount officer or his wife had joined the Pansol picnic.

But the PET insider argued that the absence of Caguioa’s name in the resort attendance, including the denial of his office, would not prove that he was not present at the 3Js Resort where the Supreme Court revisors and Leni’s team were having fun.

“With or without Caguioa in the swimming pool party, still his PET revisors’ Pansol swimsuit bonding with the poll revision team of Robredo headed by a certain Osmundo Abuyuan violates the ethical standard imposed upon by law on individual discharging judicial or quasi-judicial functions,” said the PET insider.

He stressed that in fraternizing with Leni’s revisors, Caguioa’s revision boys have clearly compromised the integrity of the ongoing VP election recount because, obviously, the PET revisors have abandoned their vows to perfectly maintain impartiality in resolving Marcos’ complaint that Robredo had cheated her way to the vice presidency.

In a related development, dismayed by the apparent conspiracy to delay the ongoing election protest, former Senator Bongbong Marcos yesterday asked the PET to investigate the recent outing of more than 20 of its Head Revisors and other officers who were seen partying with the revisor of Leni Robredo at a resort in Pansol, Laguna.

In a 10-page Manifestation of Grave Concern with Extremely Urgent Motion to Investigate, Marcos informed the PET that his camp recently discovered that at least 24 revisors and officers of the PET fraternized with the revisor of Robredo at a resort in Pansol in Calamba Laguna a couple of weeks ago.

“Protestant Marcos received information that on Sunday, 22 June 2018, there was an ‘outing’ at ‘3J’s Resort’ located at Lot 11, Barangay Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna which was attended by a party revisor for the protestee, Maria Leonor “Leni Daang Matuwid” G. Robredo (“Robredo”), TOGETHER with twenty-four (24) Head Revisors, Alternate Head Revisor, Appraiser, Ballot Box Custodians/Handlers and Chief Tabulator of this Honorable Tribunal,” lawyer George Erwin Garcia informed the PET.

According to Garcia, they learned about the outing through the Facebook account of PET Head Revisor Maria Katrina (Che-Che) Rosales when she posted the photos of the “Pansol outing” on Tuesday, June 24, 2018. Among the photos posted were the 24 PET personnel together with Osmundo “Ritchie” Abuyuan — who is one of the revisors of Robredo in the ongoing election protest of Marcos. Also seen partying with the group were Reycard Castro (PET Chief Tabulator), Hazel Magsipoc, Mohammad Disomangcop, Jennifer Pablo, Michaer Rebosura, Christine Enriquez, Noriesel Lalamunan, Irene Canada, Princess Bonetivo, Rosales, Hannah Pauline Medrano (all PET Head Revisors), Julius Tumalad (PET Alternate Head Revisor), Ellaine Francisco (PET Appraiser) Keno Moraleda (PET Head Ballot Custodian) as well as Martin Santos, Edwin Roque, Bryan Puntero, Elijah Mikaelson, Mel Darien Buensalido and Rogene Agudelo (all PET Ballot Box Custodians).

Several days later — on July 2, 2018 Rosales, in an “apparent (move) to rectify her mistake of publicly posting the incriminating photos of their ‘Pansol outing’,”deleted the photos from her Facebook account.

“Fraternizing with the party revisor for the protestee is obviously prohibited by this Honorable Tribunal since this act is proscribed not only by the Code of Conduct for Court Personnel but also by the Canon of Judicial Ethics,” Garcia said.

He further stated that the “Pansol outing” would imply that Robredo’s camp had already “infiltrated and curried favor with these PET personnel in order to manipulate, influence and control the revision proceedings and maneuver the results in her favor.”

“Protestant Marcos cannot help but wonder if the ongoing judicial recount and revision proceedings have been compromised given that the same is presided by the very same PET personnel who appear to be in cahoots with the protestee’s camp”.

He also pointed out that the role of the Head Revisors is crucial in the ongoing revision of votes because they are the ones who preside over their respective Revision Committees and control the conduct of the judicial recounting of ballots.

“In fact, these Head Revisors and the Alternate Head Revisors are in charge of initially determining whether the ballots found inside the ballots are valid, rejected or stray. They are likewise mandated to determine if the protested ballots comply with the 50% shading threshold as originally decided by the PET,” he explained.

Garcia said that the actions of the PET personnel constitute improper and unethical behavior which immeasurably affects not only the integrity of the ongoing election protest but, more importantly, the honor and dignity of the Judiciary as an institution.

“Consequently, it is imperative for this Honorable Tribunal to immediately investigate this incident and to impose the appropriate sanctions on these PET personnel, the protestee and her party revisor,” Garcia asked the Tribunal.
