MANILA, Philippines - Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos on Tuesday asked the Commission on Election (Comelec) to fast-track preparations for elections in the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) after the Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order against the law postponing the polls.
He said the decision by the Supreme Court confirmed his previous position contained in the committee report on the bill postponing the ARMM election which was eventually passed into law before session ended in June.
“This validates my position that there must be elections for ARMM officials and not appointment of officer-in-charge,” Marcos said.
“The Comelec should now make the preparations for an election to be held as soon as possible,” he added.
