Actor and mayoral candidate Richard Gomez and his wife Leyte Representative Lucy Torres- Gomez have expressed their support to vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Marcos, with his mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos, met Sunday with the actor, who is seeking a post in Ormoc. Lucy was not present because of her delayed flight.
Gomez is running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition while his wife, who is seeking re-election for the 4th district, is a member of the Liberal Party.
This is the fourth time that Gomez is seeking an elective post. He ran but lost for senator in 2007, was disqualified as congressman in 2010, and lost his mayoral bid in this city in 2013.
Ormoc City Mayor Edward Codilla, who is running against Gomez, also expressed support for Marcos in a separate meeting. His wife Violy is also pitted against Lucy, making it a fight between the two pairs of husband and wife.
Codilla of the United People’s Coalition said he was crossing party lines for Marcos.
